I’ve lost count the number of times I have this in my email or heard it on the phone when many of you call in to me.

It’s time to change the narrative that Realtors are not knowledgeable about the Residential Tenancies Act.

Next three months, I’ve teamed up with our good friends Kristen and Edmond at Legacy Legal LLP to bring even more education to Openroom members who are realtors, property managers, and investors. It’s a 4-class series tailored to the LTB, vacant possession, negotiations of cash for keys, and enforcement of unpaid rent.

Last year November, I travelled to Windsor, Ontario to visit Legacy’s team. I was really hoping it wasn’t going to snow. Joke’s on me - Canadian Winter got me. It snowed pretty hard!

Nonetheless, it was a fantastic evening with some of Legacy’s clients in Windsor. Wine, popcorn, games, and great conversation.

When you or those you know assess a paralegal or lawyer for legal assistance, you should look at what they specialize in. A lawyer who does Real Estate Law may not know the best techniques at the Landlord and Tenant Board or Tribunals.

Paralegals specialize in the Small Claims Court but even that has specialities. For Legacy, their team handles contractor disputes, employment issues, and traffic tickets beyond going DEEP into the landlord and tenancy side of the house.

I’ve personally referred family and friends their way so when they come to teach the Openroom community, YOU BET I SAID YES.

There are cases of people who are fabricating evidence. The sad reality of it right now, is that it is SO easy to do it. I’ve tried manipulating pictures myself with simple prompts to ChatGPT or Google Gemini.
